What is your Hays Story?

I started my career at Hays eleven years ago, in the Life Sciences division. I already had three years of experience in a similar position, with a competitor. I then gradually took on some responsibilities in managing a small team, with a simple objective: the development of the temp business for my division. Two years ago I became responsible for the Louvain-la-Neuve office, which does business throughout Wallonia.

What do you like the most in your current job?

I love recruitment. While I am now responsible for the office, I still take great pleasure in looking for candidates. Over the past two years, I have also enjoyed my work in People Management, courtesy of a very mature team of course. Recently I had the chance to recruit a lot of new consultants for our office to boost our growth. Choosing new team members and defining a strategy for the future is obviously very exciting.

Which Hays moment will you never forget?

For as long as I can remember, I've always enjoyed going to work. After eleven years at Hays, I would say that my best memories are related to my colleagues: time spent together, memorable parties, incredible incentives and lots of laughter. Above all, it’s the atmosphere: an extraordinary family environment.

What tips can you give to candidates who would like to have a career in recruitment?

The most important skill is a strong ability to put things into perspective. It's a complicated job with a lot of ups and downs. You have to be able to take a step back when necessary and especially have the ability to bounce back when things don’t go well. Dedication, perseverance and patience are essential for this profession.
