What is your Hays Story

I first came by as a candidate at Hays, looking for a new job in logistics. During the conversation with my recruitment consultant, I realized that the job of consultant also seemed like a nice job to do. Seven years later I am still here, enjoying my work and I have been able to successfully expand the
Purchasing & Logistics division.

 

What do you like the most in your current job?

 

The most? Without a doubt, the variety and unpredictability of both clients and candidates. As we work with people every day, we have to deal with surprises a lot. Moreover, every year we reach a few extraordinary top moments, but from time to time we also have to endure setbacks. I greatly appreciate the freedom and the possibilities that I get to determine my own strategy and to challenge myself.

 

Which Hays moment will you never forget?

 

There’s definitely more than one to be honest. But, recently I was pleasantly surprised when I received a nice compliment from a candidate, completely out of the blue. The fact that you can really make a difference and helped someone to get his career back on track, that is really satisfying. Other than that working together, as a team, with different colleagues is also worth remembering. As a team, you get attached to each other and this has brought me a few really good friends, and even more than that, I was the lucky one to meet my wife at Hays.

 

 

What tips can you give to candidates who would like to have a career in recruitment?

 

Be open-minded and keep a positive attitude. Listen well to what people want and try to get them there. Give your candidates enough options and advise them as much as you can, without pushing them.

What is your Hays story?

 

16 years of investment, activities, phone calls, development, discussions, meetings, team work, negotiations, successes and setbacks, resilience, work, but above all… pleasure and fun!

 

What do you like the most in your current job?

 

The Hays culture, the autonomy that we get, the entrepreneurial spirit, the building of long-term relationships with clients, the team spirit, the sharing of expertise, … for one main goal: put the right person in the right job.

 

Which Hays moment will you never forget?

 

Taking part in the difficult, but very motivating adventure of setting up our new offices (Lille, Wavre and Gosselies). We had to start from scratch and build up everything.

 

What tips can you give to candidates who would like to have a career in recruitment?

 

Be an expert, inquisitive, ambitious and passionate about people. Be a part of HAYS!

What is your Hays story

 

I started working at Hays in 2014 on the Retail division, focusing on wholesale. I proactively created a business strategy for my division which quickly allowed me to reach my ambitions. One year after, I became Team Leader for the Retail division, and after two years I accepted the challenge to manage the Sales & Marketing team. I indicated that I wanted to grow my people management skills, so I received the opportunity to lead the Engineering division as well, starting June 2018. So, in 4 years’ time, I’m proud to see that I’ve evolved a lot as a person and as a manager. I’m very grateful that Hays offered me a lot of qualitative classroom trainings in Belgium and EMEA, and that they also support on-the-job learning.

 

What do you like the most about your current job?

 

As a consultant: making the right match. The feeling you get when your candidate agrees on a salary proposition is absolutely fantastic. You make 3 parties happy, the candidate, the client and yourself. As a teamleader: seeing your people grow thanks to your individual coaching.

 

 

Which Hays moment will you never forget?

 

The Hays XL incentive. During 13 weeks, we had to reach all kinds of targets and I was of course very driven to reach all of them. After 13 weeks however, a lottery would decide who could join in on an exclusive trip to Ibiza. And guess what, I won a ticket! I was extremely happy that I could go on the trip! A moment I’ll always remember.

 

 

What tips can you give to candidates who would like to have a career in recruitment?

 

Ask open questions! Recruitment is all about analyzing the needs of your candidates and clients and trying to match them. If you are inquisitive and you have a passion for people, than you will be able to make the right match. If on top of that, you are prepared to go the extra mile and you want your career to evolve, it is important for you to know that at Hays, the sky is the limit.

What is your Hays Story?

 

I started my career as a Sales in the outplacement industry. After 3 years it was time for me to reconsider my career and rely on my degree in Industrial Psychology. After discovering a job description at Hays in the newspaper I felt an immediate click. It was a perfect mix between my studies and my first working experience. I started off as a consultant in the Brussels team, specialized in all profiles except finance. Thanks to the network I built, I was able to reach success quite quickly and I was very enthousiastic to keep on growing. Today, I’m proud to be responsible for Hays Experts and Hays Executive on a national level. It’s been 14 years now that I’m part of this amazing family and I know the adventure just begins.

 

 

What do you like the most in your current job?

 

I love to work with people, I want to know their story, I love to see them evolve and grow. In my current role, I can contribute to their career growth and I really like that. Next to that, I need a commercial challenge: reaching results, convince customers, this is an energy booster for me.

 

 

Which Hays moment will you never forget ?

 

Hard to choose, there are so many! Every time I met new colleagues, the National Conference (staff party), the clubs 60 and 80, the Christmas parties, the interviews with candidates or prospects…There are so many happy moments. It’s a real honor to work in such an environment.

 

Which tips can you give to candidates who want to go for a career in recruitment?

 

Love what you, don’t limit yourself, be open to all opportunities and you will have a fantastic career.

What is your Hays story?

I started my career at Hays around 13 years ago, I heard about the job through a friend. Hays was growing in Belgium and they also hired new consultants in Antwerp. I already had a first experience in recruitment and a Bachelor degree in Psychology, so I was ready for a career switch.  The open vision, the dynamic approach and the ambition that Hays showed immediately triggered me. Since then I never regretted my choice, not even for a minute. I started off as consultant on the Finance & Accounting division and after 6 year I moved on to the Engineering profiles. About 3 years ago, I changed jobs again and became Internal Trainer at the Central Office Department.

 

What do you like the most in your current job?

 

Sharing my knowledge and introducing my new colleagues to the fascinating world of recruitment. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction. It is nice to be able to support people and to see them grow. Passionate about people is one of our key values and definitely also one of my own.  If you cooperate with people, there are no boring days at work.

 

Which Hays moment you will never forget?

 

The moment Hays reached over 1 million followers on LinkedIn was a moment I will never forget. I am very proud to work for a company that is ranked n° 17 on the list of most followed companies worldwide. (*in 2018).

 

What tips can you give to candidates who like to have a career in recruitment?
